[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The eternal cleanup hitter of Joseon is leaving the field but not Busan. Lotte Giants player Lee Dae-ho will become the official ambassador representing Busan City.
Busan City announced that on the 8th at 4:35 PM, at Sajik Baseball Stadium where Lee Dae-ho’s retirement game will be held, he will be appointed as Busan City's official ambassador.
Lee Dae-ho is a baseball player representing the baseball capital (Gyudo) Busan and is regarded as one of the top hitters in the Korea Professional Baseball League. During his career, he recorded achievements including 1 KBO MVP award, 6 Golden Gloves, 3 batting titles, and 2 home run titles, becoming a source of pride for Busan citizens and baseball fans.
The ambassador appointment plaque will be personally presented by Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, who will visit Sajik Baseball Stadium on the day to congratulate Lee Dae-ho on his retirement. The plaque bears the inscription: “We welcome Lee Dae-ho, the eternal cleanup hitter of Joseon who will be the pride of Busan, a city where one would want to live again, as the official ambassador of Busan Metropolitan City.”
Once appointed as Busan City’s official ambassador, Lee Dae-ho will represent Busan for the next two years, promoting the city’s charm domestically and internationally and enhancing Busan’s image.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “We have appointed Lee Dae-ho, a franchise player of the Lotte Giants and recognized as the best hitter in the KBO League who has received passionate love, as Busan City’s official ambassador.”
He added, “We sincerely thank Lee Dae-ho for willingly accepting the role of Busan City’s official ambassador. As he retires after this season, we plan to work together to create ‘Busan, a city where one would want to live again.’”
Busan currently has 15 ambassadors (including teams) active across 10 fields, including popera singer Kai, actor Kim Kwang-gyu, barista Jeon Ju-yeon, Vice President of the Korea Table Tennis Association Hyun Jung-hwa, opera singer Jo Sumi, actor Lee Jung-jae, comedian Kim Jun-ho, and the music group BTS.
Following opera singer Jo Sumi’s participation in the special concert for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid in August, BTS will hold a concert at the Asiad Main Stadium on the 15th to support the 2030 Busan World Expo bid, working hard to widely promote Busan’s charm and the 2030 Busan World Expo worldwide.
