[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold a special lecture in collaboration with the Korea Science Space Youth Corps at the Science Museum Imagination Hall at 11 a.m. on the 8th to commemorate World Space Week (October 4?10).
World Space Week is an international event established by the UN in 1999 to commemorate the launch of the first artificial satellite Sputnik 1 (October 4, 1957) and the enforcement of the Outer Space Treaty for the peaceful use of outer space (October 10, 1967), aiming to promote public interest and support for space development.
This lecture will invite Jeon Tae-gyun, CEO of SIA Co., Ltd., to discuss the theme of this year’s World Space Week, "Space and Sustainability," with an engaging talk titled "Earth and Space Viewed Through Artificial Intelligence," covering fascinating stories about space and AI.
Dr. Jeon Tae-gyun earned his Ph.D. in computer vision and machine learning from Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology. In 2017, he was selected as a Google Developer Expert and participated in Google's annual seminars, where he consulted with developers worldwide on AI-related topics.
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director, expressed, "This lecture will be a great opportunity to learn about various AI technologies used in cutting-edge aerospace fields," and added, "We hope many future space scientists interested in AI and space will actively participate."
The special lecture commemorating World Space Week is open to anyone aged 10 and above interested in space and related technologies. Attendance is limited to 150 people on a first-come, first-served basis through online reservation.
