[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] ‘One Butler for a Hundred’ stars Lee Hyeri and Lee Junyoung, who preview a chilling yet thrilling first encounter.
On the 7th, MBC's new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘One Butler for a Hundred’ (directed by Shim Soyeon and Park Seonyeong, written by Lee Sunhye, produced by IWill Media) released still cuts of funeral director Baek Dongju (played by Lee Hyeri) and the versatile butler Kim (played by Lee Junyoung), who explode with chaotic chemistry whenever they meet.
The still cuts spark curiosity about how Baek Dongju and Kim, who engage in a fiery staring contest from their very first meeting, end up teaming up as wish-fulfillers for otherworldly guests.
‘One Butler for a Hundred’ depicts a mutual aid project between Baek Dongju, a funeral director who fulfills the wishes of the deceased, and Kim, a versatile butler from a lifestyle service company. The story offers warm yet spooky, mischievous yet fascinating requests that bring heartfelt empathy amid cheerful laughter through the teamwork of the two butlers who cross between the living and the dead to listen and help with anything.
The released photos capture the tangled relationship between Baek Dongju and Kim from their first meeting. Kim, the versatile butler from the lifestyle errand service company ‘One Butler for a Hundred,’ rushes anywhere when called by customers and listens to ‘anything’ as a universal butler for all. Kim encounters Baek Dongju at a place where he went on someone’s request. Their serious expressions provoke curiosity about what happened between them.
A reunion at a crosswalk, whether by chance or fate, was also captured. Kim’s face is full of apology as Baek Dongju picks up spilled lunch boxes for some unknown reason.
Baek Dongju’s displeased expression toward the restless Kim also draws attention. Starting from a dislike relationship, the two begin a mutual aid project as a fated community fulfilling requests from otherworldly guests, and their transformation captivates viewers.
Lee Hyeri shared, “Actor Lee Junyoung skillfully captures the turning points between seriousness and comedy, making it easy to work together. He is a very reliable actor.”
Lee Junyoung expressed trust, saying, “Lee Hyeri is very passionate, and thanks to her unique bright and positive energy, filming is enjoyable. Just being with her is a blessing for me.”
MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘One Butler for a Hundred’ is a collaboration between director Shim Soyeon, praised for dramas like ‘I Have a Goal’ and ‘Welcome 2 Life,’ and writer Lee Sunhye, who participated in the ‘Reply’ series and wrote ‘20th Century Boy and Girl.’ It will premiere on the 19th at 9:50 PM.
