Mokpo City Hosts 4-in-4 Literary Festival Highlighting Great Stars of Literary History

Exploring the Literary Worlds of Kim Woo-jin, Park Hwa-seong, Cha Beom-seok, and Kim Hyun at Mokpo Literature Museum

[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the ‘4in4color Literature Festival,’ a program exploring the literary worlds of great figures from Mokpo who have illuminated Korean literary history such as Kim Woo-jin, Park Hwa-seong, Cha Beom-seok, and Kim Hyun, at the Mokpo Literature Museum throughout October.

The ‘4in4color Literature Festival’ is a representative program of ‘Siwol-ae (愛) Mokpo Literary Travel,’ which combines Mokpo’s rich literary resources with tourism, featuring various literary events including academic conferences.

On the 8th, the ‘Cha Beom-seok Academic Conference’ will be held, hosted by the Cha Beom-seok Society and the Cha Beom-seok Theater Foundation. It will begin with a keynote lecture titled ‘My Father Cha Beom-seok’ by Cha Hye-young, the eldest daughter of Cha Beom-seok and chairperson of the Cha Beom-seok Theater Foundation, introducing not only play studies but also research on dance drama scripts.

Additionally, under the auspices of the Mokpo Theater Association, the play ‘Return Home,’ which won the 1956 Chosun Ilbo New Year Literary Contest by Cha Beom-seok, will be performed at 7:30 PM on the 7th and 6 PM on the 8th at the Warehouse Art Theater.

The Kim Woo-jin Literary Festival, hosted by the Kim Woo-jin Research Association, will also take place on the 8th, featuring celebratory performances, a national academic presentation conference, a Honam theater arts talk concert, and a comprehensive discussion. It will include studies such as ‘Research on Kim Woo-jin’s Plays Appearing in Literature Textbooks,’ and the director and actors of the theater troupe Geurim will participate to introduce the dramatization process of the play ‘Nanpa.’

Following this, on the 15th, a youth poetry recitation contest, the Park Hwa-seong Writing Contest, and a special lecture by novelist Lim Cheol-woo are scheduled, while on the 23rd, the Mokpo Used Book Fair Booktopia will be held, and on the 29th, the Kim Hyun Literary Festival will take place.
