[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] On the 6th, Han Dong-hoon, Minister of Justice, announced at the National Assembly's audit that "a special electronic anklet for sex offenders with a high risk of reoffending is being prepared."

Minister Han stated at the Ministry of Justice audit held by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly that "we are preparing to use a high-risk electronic device made entirely of metal around next year." The new electronic anklet is a product that increases the metal inner layers from the current 7 layers to 15 layers. In particular, he added that the new electronic anklet will also be attached to Kim Geun-sik (54), who sexually assaulted 11 minors and is scheduled to be released this month.

Minister Han also emphasized, "In the second half of 2022, we requested an increase of 131 electronic monitoring personnel through a temporary staffing system to related ministries," adding, "I tell the staff, 'If such an incident happens, everyone will really die,' and 'We must stop it at all costs,' and we are doing our best with a small number of personnel."
