[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Seafood products produced in Chungnam are being exported to Kazakhstan.
The province recently announced on the 6th that, together with Chungnam Technopark, it held the '2022 Export Consultation Meeting' in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, resulting in export contracts worth $3.31 million (8 cases) and export consultation achievements worth $15.03 million.
The consultation meeting was held to support local small and medium-sized enterprises in the marine and fisheries sector facing difficulties in overseas expansion.
Six local companies participated in the consultation meeting. These companies promoted excellent local products such as pen shell jerky, seaweed salt, stick gimjaban, dried gim, mud cosmetics, and water quality improvers during export consultation activities on site.
In addition, promotional and tasting events were held to improve local perceptions of seafood products and to facilitate the inland market entry of seafood products.
In particular, the consultation meeting confirmed the potential for market expansion in Kazakhstan and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, with local buyers showing keen interest in Boryeong mud cosmetics, the province emphasized.
Yu Jae-young, head of the Provincial Fisheries Industry Division, said, “We will continue to support the activation of exports and diversification of export markets for marine and fisheries companies in the province by continuously developing export products that reflect the demands of overseas buyers and consumers and pioneering overseas markets.”
