Daejeon City to Conduct Resident Registration Fact-Finding Survey Until Year-End... Focus on 'Welfare Vulnerable Groups'

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City government will conduct a resident registration fact-finding survey until the end of the year. The survey will focus on vulnerable welfare groups.

The city announced on the 6th that it will carry out the "2022 Resident Registration Fact-Finding Survey" targeting residents living in 82 neighborhoods within the jurisdiction from this month’s 6th to December 28th.

The survey will be conducted by visiting residences or contacting survey subjects by phone through neighborhood officials and community leaders.

If any corrections to resident registration details are necessary during the survey, the subjects will be guided to transfer their registration to their actual residence within the deadline through a notification and announcement process. If the deadline passes, the resident registration details will be corrected ex officio.

This year’s resident registration fact-finding survey will emphasize "priority survey target households." These include ▲welfare vulnerable groups (households classified as high-risk among the central welfare crisis households identified by the Ministry of Health and Welfare) ▲households suspected of having deceased members ▲households with long-term absentees and children of school age not enrolled in school. These households will, in principle, be surveyed through visits.

If any incorrectly reported resident registration details are found during the survey process, fines will be imposed. However, the city emphasizes that if the survey subject voluntarily reports the relevant matters to the neighborhood community center before December 23rd, up to 80% of the fine can be reduced.

Meanwhile, starting from this year’s resident registration fact-finding survey, a non-face-to-face digital survey method will be newly introduced. This method involves the survey subject accessing the non-face-to-face survey system through Government24 from their resident registration address and responding to the fact-finding questions.

However, even if the non-face-to-face digital survey is participated in, telephone surveys will be conducted as a supplementary measure.

Im Muk, Director of the Administrative Autonomy Bureau of the city, said, “Through the resident registration fact-finding survey, we will strive to prevent cases like the ‘Suwon Three Mothers’ incident and minimize welfare blind spots such as unregistered children at birth.”
