POSTECH Holdings Recruits Ko Byung-cheol, Former CEO of Lighthouse Combine

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] POSTECH Holdings (Pohang University of Science and Technology Technology Holdings) has recruited personnel from venture capital (VC). By securing a veteran investment analyst with over 20 years of investment experience, it is evaluated that their investment capabilities have been strengthened.


According to the investment banking (IB) industry on the 6th, POSTECH Holdings appointed former Lighthouse Combine Invest CEO Byungchul Go as Investment Representative (Vice President). He leads venture investments while also holding the title of adjunct professor at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology). By bringing in Go, a first-generation domestic venture capitalist, POSTECH Holdings can further expand its investment scope.


Go has a deep connection with POSTECH. He is from the first class of POSTECH, class of 1987, completed graduate studies in Industrial Engineering, and worked at POSCO ICT. Afterwards, he joined KTB Network in 2000, embarking on a career as a venture capitalist.


Since entering the industry, he has been active at KTB Network, specializing in investments in IT and early-stage startups. At KTB Network, he also served as lead fund manager for representative funds such as ‘KoFC-KTBN Pioneer Champ 2011-5 Investment Association’ and ‘KTBN 8th Investment Association’.


In 2018, he joined the newly established venture capital Lighthouse Combine Invest as co-CEO. Together with CEO Youngchan Choi, he led the company under a co-CEO system. He contributed to laying the company’s foundation by acting as lead fund manager for the approximately 41.3 billion KRW ‘KDB-LH Mid-sized Enterprise Union Fund No.1’.


After stepping down as CEO of Lighthouse Combine Invest in March 2020, he moved to Isu Group’s affiliated venture capital Isu Startup Investment as Vice President. Recently, he has attracted industry attention by establishing a new base at POSTECH Holdings.


POSTECH Holdings is a technology holding company established by POSTECH in 2012. As it was created by POSTECH, one of the top engineering universities in Korea, it focuses on investments in technology-based companies.
