[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] CU announced on the 6th that it will launch a healthy snack series called ‘Get balanced’ starting from the 8th.

Get balanced is a snack-exclusive product line targeting customers who consider nutritional content and main ingredients when choosing snacks, in response to the increasing number of consumers interested in health management.

The first products are two types of protein chips with increased protein content and reduced sugar. Instead of frying in oil, the grains are puffed using heat and pressure to remove oil, and the sugar content is about 1% of the daily nutritional intake standard, allowing consumers to enjoy them without worry.

The protein chips contain domestically produced chicken breast, providing 11g of protein per 50g bag. This is equivalent to the protein in two eggs and more than three times higher than the same amount of regular snacks currently sold at CU.

CU plans to expand the lineup by introducing additional products next month using healthy ingredients such as tofu and chickpeas.

A BGF Retail official said, “We planned the healthy snack series to meet consumer needs for balanced snacks as well as meals,” adding, “As the trend of preferring functional products focused on health management is expected to continue, we will steadily introduce differentiated related products.”
