Up to 11.4, 22 Hardware and Building Material Stores in Northern Gyeonggi Area Targeted
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Northern Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 6th that "due to the recent frequent fires at hardware stores nationwide and the anticipated increase in sales of heating fuels due to seasonal changes, a planned crackdown will be conducted on 22 hardware and building material stores in northern Gyeonggi Province until the 4th of next month."
The main items for inspection include ▲whether unauthorized hazardous materials such as heating fuels are stored or handled at construction sites ▲compliance with transporter qualification standards for hazardous materials exceeding designated quantities ▲and other violations of fire-related laws and regulations.
Any illegal activities will be subject to judicial action or corrective orders for remedial measures, and violations of other related laws such as the Building Act will be reported to the relevant authorities.
To this end, a special fire judicial police inspection team of 30 members will be formed, and after sending prior notices to the inspection targets, unannounced inspections will be conducted.
Meanwhile, following fires at hardware stores in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, and Nonsan City, Chungnam Province in August, another fire occurred in September at a hardware store in Gangseo-gu, Busan, causing significant property damage.
Head of Headquarters Go Deok-geun stated, "Winter is a period with frequent fires, so it is important to prepare proactively, and we will thoroughly check fire risk factors through planned inspections."
