The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 5th that they recently carried out search and seizure operations at the residences of 12 people suspected of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse, who were active in the Telegram chatroom with El.
They are suspected of watching or possessing sexually exploitative materials involving minors. The police have secured mobile phones, computers, and other devices from their residences to investigate how they accessed the chatroom.
A whistleblower in the chatroom identified their IP addresses and handed them over to the police, which enabled the authorities to identify these individuals.
The police have been conducting investigations with a specialized task force since the end of August and announced that on the 26th of last month, they arrested viewers and distributors, detaining two of them.
