According to the police on the 5th, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has been conducting a search and seizure at the National Security Strategy Institute (Strategy Institute) since the afternoon of the same day.
Earlier that morning, it was reported that the police also searched the residence of former deputy director Jo Mo.
Jo is suspected of using the office in a building managed by the Strategy Institute for personal purposes, including holding drinking parties, for about a year from October 2020 to December last year.
In response, the National Intelligence Service conducted an audit and reportedly requested a police investigation into Jo on the 20th of last month on suspicion of embezzlement involving billions of won.
