Navy Gwangyang Ship Opens to Public on Gwangyang Citizens' Day


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that the Navy Special Warfare Flotilla's surface ship rescue ship Gwangyang (ATS-II, 3,500 tons) will hold a ship open event at the Gwangyang International Passenger Terminal in Jeollanam-do on the 6th from 10:00 to 15:00 to celebrate the 28th 'Gwangyang Citizens' Day.'


This ship open event was prepared to provide happy memories to Gwangyang citizens who have not been able to fully enjoy 'Gwangyang Citizens' Day' due to the COVID-19 situation.


In addition to the ship open event, the Navy Gwangyang will showcase various experience programs such as exhibitions of rescue equipment used by Navy Search and Rescue Unit (SSU) members including unmanned underwater vehicles and decompression chambers, military uniform wearing, and a Navy photo zone.


Commander Lim An (Lieutenant Colonel Jin) of the Gwangyang said, "Since signing a sisterhood agreement with Gwangyang City in 2017, the Navy Gwangyang has been a neighbor of Gwangyang City, continuing various exchanges and cooperation such as ship open events and civil support."


He added, "I sincerely congratulate the 28th Gwangyang Citizens' Day and hope everyone enjoys a pleasant and happy time visiting the Navy Gwangyang."


The Gwangyang ship open event is open to all citizens, tourists, and the general public.
