[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold a nine-day fusion festival combining science and cultural arts, the ‘2022 ArtScience Festival,’ from the 7th to the 16th.

Now in its third year, the ArtScience Festival is the National Gwangju Science Museum’s representative festival held every October. This year, in collaboration with local cultural and artistic institutions, a variety of events will be held under the theme ‘The Nature.’

The upcycle exhibition and experience ‘Rainbow House’ is an outdoor exhibition using container boxes, which are gaining attention as a new form of exhibition space.

In the rainbow-colored containers, art pieces made from discarded household scrap and broken toys are displayed, and visitors can also participate in upcycle experiences by creating artworks using marine waste, toy waste, and more.

At the ‘Science Picnic,’ where visitors can learn and enjoy science, the 4th Mass Art Contest winning works will be exhibited, along with Drone Academy Season 4 in cooperation with Buk-gu Office, a meteorological and climate photo exhibition with the Korea Meteorological Administration, and various unique mobile science bus experiences will be available.

Additionally, special lectures commemorating World Space Week (on the 8th) and Phil Science lectures (on the 15th) will be held in connection with the festival.

The accompanying event ‘Fun & Fun,’ in collaboration with Hana Bank, will invite the Ham Shin-ik Orchestra for a classical music concert on an autumn day (October 8) at the Science Museum’s Imagination Hall. Various side events such as weekend performances, toy donation events, and SNS picket photo events will also be held.

Deputy Director Jeon Tae-ho said, “This ArtScience Festival was planned with nature as the theme in connection with the ongoing 2050 Carbon Zero City special exhibition at the science museum,” adding, “We hope this event will be an opportunity to reflect on the value of resource circulation in daily life with nature and to foster greater interest in the global environment.”
