[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 5th, Ulsan City Ulju-gun signed the 'Yeongnam Alps Cable Car Development Project Implementation Agreement' with Yeongnam Alps Cable Car at the 8th floor Pigeon Hall of the county office.

This implementation agreement was promoted to stipulate cooperation in work necessary for future project implementation and rights and obligations with Yeongnam Alps Cable Car, the project operator.

The Yeongnam Alps Cable Car Development Project will be promoted as a fully private investment with a total project cost of 64.4 billion KRW, and will be implemented by donation and free use permission according to the 'Act on the Management of Public Property and Goods.'

Upon project completion, ownership of buildings, facilities, land, etc. will be transferred to Ulju-gun, and the project operator will use them free of charge for 20 years. Cable car usage fees will be finalized through consultation before the start of operation.

The route is approximately 2.472 km from the Complex Welcome Center to the Sinbul Mountain Silver Grass Plain area, and the cable car type is a single-line automatic circulation system. It is planned to operate with about 50 ten-person cabins capable of carrying up to 1,500 people per hour.

Main facilities include the cable car, upper and lower stations, parking lots, and convenience facilities, with specific facility sizes to be determined during detailed design.

The upper station and cable car route are located at about 850m above sea level on the southwest side of Sinbuljae, outside the Nakdong Jeongmaek ridge, to minimize environmental damage, and will be promoted using eco-friendly construction methods.

After administrative procedures such as detailed design and environmental impact assessment, construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of next year and be completed in the second half of 2025.

Son Hotae, CEO of Yeongnam Alps Cable Car, said, “As the officially designated project operator, we will fully commit to the project, creating an eco-friendly cable car suitable for the natural ecological environment through minimal selective development and active environmental conservation,” adding, “We will maximize synergy with existing tourist facilities and do our best to contribute to the revitalization of Ulju-gun tourism and the development of a stay-type tourist destination.”

Lee Sung-geol, the county governor, said, “With the cable car project promoted in Yeongnam Alps, a representative mountain tourist destination of Ulsan, effects such as revitalizing the depressed local economy, attracting tourists, and attracting private investment are expected,” and added, “We will cooperate with private operators to ensure thorough project promotion to successfully complete the cable car project.”
