[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] SK ecoplant announced on the 5th that it held an investment attraction event on the 4th at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, targeting six startup companies.


The investment attraction briefing was conducted for a total of 20 startups. These included 10 companies that won SK ecoplant's technology contest over the past three years, and 10 startups discovered by value-up platform partner organizations such as the Seoul Creative Economy Innovation Center, Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center, Korea International Trade Association, and the Research & Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation. Each startup participated in a preliminary investment meeting held last month, and six of them attended the event on the 4th. Additional investment meetings are planned in the future.


Five venture capital (VC) investment institutions, including value-up platform partner investors such as Yuanta Investment, DSC Investment, and K Ground Partners, as well as Samho Green Investment, also attended. The investment institutions will review the potential for innovative technology development and on-site application, and plan to finalize investments by the end of this year.


At the event, an awards ceremony was also held for the winners of the 2022 Tech Open Collaboration hosted by SK ecoplant. This year, three startups?WithMTech, GritC, and Zerosis?were selected as the final awardees.


SK ecoplant is leading the establishment of a win-win innovation platform to strengthen the technological competitiveness and growth of startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Based on public-private cooperation with the government, public institutions, and investment organizations, the company plans to actively create a sustainable industrial ecosystem. As a result of these efforts, SK ecoplant was selected for six consecutive years (2016?2021) as the top grade in the Win-Win Growth Index, the first in the construction industry.


Park Kyung-il, President of SK ecoplant, said, "We will continuously devote efforts to sustainable growth through multifaceted cooperation such as commercialization of innovative technologies, investment attraction, and joint R&D, so that startups and SMEs can strengthen their competitiveness."
