Beer Instead of Oil... 'SK Ju-yuso' Opens at Cheonggyecheon SK Innovation's petroleum subsidiary SK Energy announced on the 5th that it will operate the 'SK Ju(酒) Station' on Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, until the 31st of this month to commemorate the 60th anniversary of SK Innovation's founding.

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] An 'SK Ju(酒) Gas Station' that sells beer instead of gasoline has opened at Cheonggyecheon in Seoul.

SK Energy, the petroleum business subsidiary of SK Innovation, announced on the 5th that it will operate the 'SK Ju(酒) Gas Station' on Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, until the 31st of this month to commemorate the 60th anniversary of SK Innovation's founding.

This is a cultural space where anyone can enjoy themselves, reinterpreting the 60-year history of Korea's first petroleum company with a modern sensibility. The design of the SK gas station was applied, and the signboard emphasizes '60 years of tradition and origin,' signifying that the history of the nation's first petroleum company has reached 60 years.

The building has two floors above ground; the first floor is arranged as a space introducing the 60-year history of SK Energy and SK gas stations, with seats and tables where visitors can enjoy food and beverages.

The second floor embodies the direction SK gas stations aim to pursue in the future as an 'eco-friendly green energy hub.' There are tables designed with solar panels used for distributed power generation on the gas station site, and seats shaped like fuel cells representing the 'Energy Superstation' gas station that produces eco-friendly power using fuel cells.

The dispensers, which allow customers to pour as much beer as they want, are designed to match the themes of each floor: the first floor dispenser resembles a gas pump, and the second floor dispenser resembles an electric vehicle (EV) charger. When the card received upon entry is placed on the dispenser, the price per liter is calculated, and the total amount used on the card can be paid at once upon exit.

The beer is from 'Amazing Brewing Company' located in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Visitors can enjoy four types of craft beer themed after petroleum products: gasoline-lager, premium gasoline-IPA, crude oil-stout, and diesel-weizen. Fried chicken served in SK drums, tteokbokki on SK Happy Wings plates, and French fries are also available as side dishes. Staff dressed in SK gas station attendant uniforms will welcome customers.

Additionally, various planned products are sold, including canned beer sets containing the beer sold at SK Ju(酒) Gas Station and 'Happy Elephant' cooler bags inspired by the old Yukong elephant logo.

SK Ju(酒) Gas Station is open from 5 PM to 11 PM on weekdays and from 3 PM to 9 PM on weekends. An SK Energy official said, "In line with the operation direction of SK Ju(酒) Gas Station to fill and share, all profits will be donated to social contribution activities during the winter season."
