Yongin City’s 73 Delinquent Tax Management Team Members Complete 6 Months of Activity... Achieving 3.9 Billion KRW Collection Results

[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province investigated 37,000 delinquent taxpayers over the past six months and collected 3.9 billion KRW. Additionally, it supported 46 livelihood-type delinquent taxpayers suffering from economic difficulties.

Yongin City announced on the 5th that 73 delinquency management team members began activities on March 28, visiting the residences and business sites of delinquent taxpayers to inform them of their delinquency status, assess their payment ability, and link livelihood-type delinquent taxpayers to welfare projects, carrying out various activities over the past six months.

They concluded their customized collection activities by the 30th of last month, encouraging payment from delinquent taxpayers at the city hall collection department and tax departments of each district office, and linking delinquent taxpayers facing livelihood difficulties to welfare services.

In particular, during the summer heatwave period, they collected taxes amounting to 52 million KRW from 113 vehicles by seizing license plates mainly in underground parking lots.

They also visited each delinquent taxpayer to inform them of their delinquency and guided them on preferred payment methods such as virtual accounts, WETAX, and credit card payments. Among those identified during the investigation, 46 livelihood-type delinquent taxpayers were connected to administrative welfare centers in each town and township to receive welfare service support.

Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, stated, "Despite the difficult conditions due to COVID-19, the 73 members of the delinquency management team achieved a twofold result by collecting delinquent taxes and helping livelihood-type delinquent taxpayers." He emphasized, "We will continue to operate customized collection policies such as installment payments and welfare linkage considering each taxpayer's economic situation through delinquency investigations."
