[Seoul District News] Jungnang-gu Holds First 'Jungnang Vision Roundtable' of 8th Term with Local Residents at Jungnang Culture and Sports Center on 4th Afternoon & Communication and Empathy Space to Collect Residents' Creative and Novel Ideas... Award Ceremony for Winners of the 42nd Eunpyeong Awards Honoring Eunpyeong's Excellence
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the first Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting of the 8th local government term on the 4th at Jungnang Cultural and Sports Center, with 140 residents participating under the theme of "The Future of Jungnang."
The Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting is a gathering that recruits residents from various sectors to collect policy ideas by field and exchange opinions. It is a core pledge of the 8th local government term of Jungnang-gu, reflecting the will to diagnose and evaluate the district administration through residents' opinions and to operate the administration by reflecting these in policies. It has been held since the 7th local government term as a place for communication and cooperation, marking its fifth session.
The 140 residents participating this time were selected through an open recruitment held online and offline last September. They were composed of diverse residents from youth to seniors, considering residence, gender, age, and areas of interest.
The meeting proceeded in the order of sharing the vision of the 8th local government term, discussing the future vision and realization plans for the seven major visions of Jungnang, proposing policies together with the mayor, and voting on outstanding policy proposals.
During the roundtable discussions, residents actively proposed policies with a heart for regional development, such as specific care measures including support for children who do not receive care support because they are not in the lower-income bracket, expanding customized senior jobs through aptitude tests or education, and expanding support for the fashion sewing industry.
In the sympathy voting for outstanding policy proposals, the establishment of a youth-only cultural and artistic creation center to be built in the Myeonmok 7-dong complex building received high sympathy from residents. The youth-only cultural and artistic creation center is a space established to promote youth autonomy activities through cultural and artistic education and experiential activities.
The ideas discovered through the discussions will be reflected in the establishment of pledge projects for the 8th local government term. In addition, projects that receive high votes in the sympathy voting for outstanding policy proposals will be selected as priority projects for residents' long-standing wishes, and policies that residents can feel will be implemented.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "The Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting is a place of communication where we can hear the vivid voices of residents on site. It was prepared to operate the district administration by diagnosing the current state of the region and discussing the future through cooperation between the public and private sectors," and added, "In the 8th local government term, we will continue to establish and decide policies by valuing residents' precious opinions based on resident participation."
