Changwon Special City "See the Sea, and Receive Prizes"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 4th that the Gyeongnam Fishing, Camping, and Marine Leisure Expo, set against the beautiful marine tourist sites of Changwon, will be held from the 7th to the 9th at the Changwon Convention Center.
This event is hosted by Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, and the Korea Fishing Association, and organized by CECO, Gwangryung, and the Korea Fishing Tackle Industry Managers Association. It is held with the purpose of supporting the marine leisure and tourism industry to establish a foundation for revitalizing the local economy. Utilizing Gyeongnam’s marine industry infrastructure, which boasts the nation’s largest fishing boat market and the highest number of fishing enthusiasts, this newly developed exhibition is expected to inject new vitality into the regional leisure industry.
Moreover, one month before the exhibition, despite being the first event, the website pre-registration reached 7,000 visitors, confirming the potential to convert the abundant latent demand related to fishing and marine leisure scattered across the Gyeongnam region into effective demand.
This expo will be divided into the Fishing Hall and Marine Leisure Hall, operating with 62 companies and 294 booths. In the Fishing Hall, domestic fishing artisan companies and fishing gear retailers will participate, showcasing a variety of fishing equipment catering from beginners to experts, providing useful information about products and fishing techniques.
In the Marine Leisure Hall, an underwater zone for divers will be set up, introducing the nation’s only personal underwater propulsion device, along with various products related to marine leisure tourism such as camping, leisure, and outdoor activities. Additionally, a Campnak (Camping + Fishing) corner will be operated considering the preferences of casual anglers, expected to captivate consumers who prefer reasonable leisure activities.
Furthermore, fishing specialty channels and professional YouTube channels will participate, conducting real-time live broadcasts on-site and providing explanations about the products of participating companies. Visitor promotion events are also planned, with daily fishing-related items given away as prizes through a raffle during the event period, and individual events held at major company booths within the exhibition hall.
Lee Kyung-seok, head of investment attraction for Changwon Special City, said, “Through the Gyeongnam Fishing, Camping, and Marine Leisure Expo, we hope to satisfy the local residents’ needs for rest and leisure, and that related leisure industries such as the fishing boat business will develop in connection as a growth engine.”
