[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it will hold the 4th "Jangseong National Gugak Competition" at the Jangseong Culture and Arts Center on the 15th.
The Jangseong National Gugak Competition is an event promoted by the Maehun Traditional Arts Preservation Association, a corporation, to discover talented gugak artists.
The Preservation Association was established by Director Kim Eun-sook, the holder of the Jeollanam-do intangible cultural asset Gayageum Byeongchang.
All gugak artists nationwide are eligible to participate, competing in two categories: Gayageum Byeongchang and Pansori.
The competition is divided into elementary, middle, and high school divisions, as well as rookie and general divisions (including university students).
Applications can be submitted by sending competition videos via email by the 7th.
On the day of the competition, the 15th, preliminary and final judging will be held, and the highest award, the Jeollanam-do Governor's Award, will be presented.
County Governor Kim Han-jong said, "I hope that the Jangseong National Gugak Competition, now in its fourth year, will be a valuable opportunity to nurture artists, inherit traditional culture, and contribute to the development of our music."
