Mokpo City Presents Harbor Festival with Youth Participation

October 14-16 at Mokpo Port and Samhakdo Area... Numerous Programs Targeting the MZ Generation

[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that it is stepping up preparations for the ‘2022 Mokpo Port Festival’ to be held from the 14th to the 16th around Mokpo Port and Samhakdo.

Since last month, the city has been brainstorming for a successful festival by holding detailed plan reviews of the Mokpo City Festival Promotion Committee on the 19th, departmental progress report meetings on the 21st, and safety measures meetings with related organizations on the 26th.

This year’s Mokpo Port Festival aims to inherit and develop the traditional ‘Pasi’ market, and especially, true to the theme ‘Autumn Pasi Port with Youth!’, it has prepared many new programs targeting the MZ generation.

Newly introduced contents such as the ‘Youth Pasi Road Parade’ starting from Mokpo Station, Pasi Night & Fireworks Show, Youth Pasi Disco Party, and Youth Highball Festival are expected to showcase the future and potential of the port city sought after by young people.

Additionally, performances will be held: on the 13th, the eve event will feature the MBC Nanyeong Song Festival on a special stage at Samhakdo; the opening ceremony will be the ‘LG Hello Concert Good Day’; and the closing ceremony will be the ‘MBC Sea Concert’.

Mayor Park Hong-ryul said, “It was regrettable that the Port Festival could not be held outdoors due to COVID-19,” adding, “This year’s festival, held for the first time in three years, will highlight the cultural characteristics of the port city and be an event led by youth and enjoyed by all citizens, with thorough preparations.”
