[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Ssangyong Motor announced on the 4th that it sold 11,322 units domestically and internationally last month. This is a 90.3% increase compared to the same period last year, marking the highest monthly sales performance this year.
It sold 7,675 units domestically and 3,647 units through exports. Domestic sales exceeded 7,000 units per month for the first time this year. This is the highest performance in 21 months since December 2020 (8,499 units). Sales roughly doubled compared to the same period last year.
The new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Torres contributed significantly. Torres achieved its highest sales since launch with 4,685 units sold, surpassing 10,000 units in cumulative sales. This marks three consecutive months of growth.
Exports also increased by 74.4% compared to the same period last year and 49.3% cumulatively, as Torres shipments began to Latin American regions such as Chile.
The company stated, "With Torres domestic sales exceeding 4,600 units and active supply to both domestic and export markets, we are making every effort to establish a stable production system, including close cooperation with parts suppliers and expansion of production capacity."
