[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Delight, a law firm specializing in startups, announced on the 4th that it will open an office in Vancouver, Canada. The firm aims to serve as a base not only for companies entering the North American market but also for North American companies expanding into Korea.
Jo Won-hee, CEO and lead attorney of Delight, explained, "Vancouver, Canada, holds great potential for companies looking to expand their business into the North American region. It has abundant talent with core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as software development and AI, and offers advantages like relatively low labor costs and tax benefits."
He added, "After working with numerous startup clients over the past five years since Delight's founding, based on their concerns about global expansion, we decided to open an office in Canada."
Delight has appointed Canadian attorney Jay Shin (Shin Cheol-hee) as the inaugural head of its Vancouver office. Attorney Shin has over 25 years of experience representing companies in corporate law, including M&A, project financing, banking and real estate transactions, as well as energy and resource deals.
Attorney Shin Cheol-hee said, "Vancouver is emerging as North America's top technology hub due to its geographic and cultural accessibility to Asia. We will provide smooth legal solutions to support the global market entry of rapidly growing technology startups."
