[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] CoAsia announced on the 4th that it is collaborating with US Nasdaq-listed company A to carry out a core processor development project for autonomous driving.
The project involves the development of an AI SoC (Artificial Intelligence System on Chip) based on A's Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Both companies will develop a 5-nanometer core processor for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) for autonomous driving.
It is known that A highly valued CoAsia's experience in developing automotive electronic application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) products for global automakers. They positively evaluated CoAsia's design capability for the cutting-edge 5-nanometer big die process and its customer local responsiveness through a global development workforce.
In the project, a processor will be developed that uses AI algorithms to repeatedly learn and compute data such as images and videos based on the NPU (Neural Processing Unit). The product can quickly process and recognize large volumes of data detected during driving through cameras and sensors, making it highly applicable in autonomous driving ADAS.
A is a semiconductor specialist company headquartered in California, USA, developing AI SoCs. The SoC has been adopted in unmanned autonomous vehicles of global autonomous driving companies.
CoAsia recently successfully completed the development of a 5-nanometer AI SoC for security in collaboration with A, which was initiated earlier this year. CoAsia plans to continue mid- to long-term collaboration in developing next-generation and specialized products in various fields.
A company official said, "We will also create synergy in the sales and distribution areas of the developed SoCs by utilizing CoAsia Group's global semiconductor distribution network."
