Hwang Seong-hwan, Newly Appointed Jeonnam Provincial Superintendent of Education, Takes Office After 2-Month Vacancy

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] On the morning of the 4th, Hwang Seong-hwan, Vice Superintendent of Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, held an inauguration ceremony and officially began his duties at the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, attended by Superintendent Kim Dae-jung and other executives and staff.

Vice Superintendent Hwang Seong-hwan is from Busan Metropolitan City and graduated from Busan Dongseong High School, Sungkyunkwan University, KDI School of Public Policy and Management, and Michigan State University in the United States.

He entered public service through the 41st Administrative Examination in 1998 and has held key positions including Secretary General of Pukyong National University, Budget Officer at the Ministry of Education, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Director General of School Safety at the Ministry of Education, Secretary General of Pusan National University, and Policy Planning Officer at the Ministry of Education.

Since August 4th, when former Vice Superintendent Kim Cheon-hong was appointed as spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, the position of Vice Superintendent of Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education had been vacant for the past two months, raising concerns on the front lines. However, with the appointment of Vice Superintendent Hwang, this gap has now been filled.

In his inaugural address, Vice Superintendent Hwang said, “I consider it an infinite honor to be able to participate in the bold journey of the great transformation of Jeonnam education,” and added, “I will do my best to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to me to realize ‘A Future Opened Together! Solid Jeonnam Education!’ by upholding Superintendent Kim Dae-jung’s philosophy and conviction.”

Superintendent Kim Dae-jung welcomed him, saying, “It is reassuring that Vice Superintendent Hwang, who possesses excellent capabilities and character, has been appointed shortly after the launch of the 4th elected term,” and added, “The diverse and extensive experience and wisdom of the Vice Superintendent will be an invaluable strength in achieving the ‘Great Transformation of Jeonnam Education.’”
