[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-oh) announced on the 4th that Firefighter Woo Jeong-hoon of the Fire Safety Headquarters was selected as the recipient of the 4th Firefighter SAFE Award hosted by the National Fire Agency.

The SAFE Award is given to outstanding firefighters who have taken the lead in protecting the lives and property of the public. This year, a total of 26 people were selected from fire headquarters across cities and provinces nationwide, and the awardees are honored with a one-rank promotion.

Firefighter Woo Jeong-hoon, appointed as a firefighter in 2017, has worked to protect the lives and property of residents through customized fire safety education and fire special investigations, among other fire safety measures.

In particular, he was recognized for his contribution to spreading the safety culture among residents by operating fire safety experience centers linked with local sports events such as collaboration with Jeju United FC, and focusing on non-face-to-face fire safety education using video call apps in response to the spread of COVID-19.

Firefighter Woo said, “As a firefighter, I feel pride and fulfillment in protecting the lives of residents, and I will continue to carry out my duties with greater responsibility and pride.”
