[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Broadcaster Park Suhong (51) was assaulted by his father during a confrontation investigation at the prosecution office and was transported to a hospital.
On the 4th, starting from 10 a.m., Park Suhong appeared at the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office for a confrontation investigation with his older brother Park Mo. Their father Park Mo and sister-in-law Lee Mo also appeared as witnesses, but it is reported that the father struck Park Suhong multiple times during the investigation.
The Mapo Police Station in Seoul received a report at 10:18 a.m. and, together with the fire department, dispatched officers to the Western District Prosecutors' Office at 10:21 a.m. Park Suhong had already been transported to a nearby hospital upon arrival. According to the police, Park Suhong’s legal representative stated, “We observed the entire situation and will decide later whether to take legal action.” The dispatched police reportedly provided guidance on the subsequent procedures.
Park Suhong filed a complaint with the prosecution in April last year, accusing his older brother and his wife of establishing a management corporation together, failing to honor profit-sharing promises, and embezzling appearance fees and other funds. On the 13th of last month, the Seoul Western District Court issued an arrest warrant on charges of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
In June of last year, Park Suhong also filed a damages lawsuit seeking approximately 11.6 billion won against the couple.
