Study Results and Discussion on the Changes and Cultural Spaces of Modern Jinju City
The Gyeongsang National University Museum held the "1st Jinnonggwan Academic Conference" under the theme "Space and Life in the Modern City of Jinju."
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Gyeongsang National University Museum held the "1st Jinnonggwan Academic Conference" on September 30th at Jinnonggwan, Chilam Campus, under the theme "The Space and Life of Modern City Jinju."
This academic conference addressed the spaces and lives of people in the modern city of Jinju. As a conference dealing with the modern aspects of Jinju, it was held at Jinnonggwan on Chilam Campus, which embraces both the 110-year university history and modern regional history.
In the first part of the conference, focusing on urban changes and changes in public facilities, presentations included ▲ Changes in Jinju city area by Professor Kim Je-jeong of the Department of History at Gyeongsang National University ▲ The process of disappearance of Jinju Fortress and moat by Professor Emeritus Kim Jun-hyung of Gyeongsang National University ▲ Establishment and changes of modern Jinju schools by Chairman Kim Joong-seop of Jinju Cultural Research Institute and Professor Emeritus of Gyeongsang National University ▲ Changes in major buildings and transportation by Kang Ho-gwang, branch chief of the Institute for Korean Historical Issues.
The second part focused on cultural spaces and modern Jinju society, featuring presentations on ▲ Stories of modern and contemporary Jinju theaters by Kang Dong-wook, director of Jinju Local Culture Research Institute ▲ Spaces of art and festivals by Nam Sung-jin, director of Jinju Cultural Research Institute ▲ Stories of modern Jinju photographic postcards by Kang Byung-joo, cultural heritage committee member of Jinju City ▲ Everyday stories of modern Jinju by Ahn Young-sook, secretary general of the Lee Seong-ja Art Museum Supporters Association ▲ Stories of modern Jinju entrepreneurs by Professor Emeritus Lee Woong-ho of Gyeongsang National University.
The topics covered in this Jinnonggwan academic conference will be published as a joint academic publication by the Gyeongsang National University Museum and the National Jinju Museum and distributed to the local community.
President Kwon Soon-gi said, "It is very meaningful that this academic conference will not be a one-time event but will be published as a book that local residents can read together," adding, "I hope it will become an important milestone for moving forward together with the local community."
Museum Director Cha Young-gil said, "It was good to collaborate with the National Jinju Museum for two consecutive years on the theme of modern Jinju," and added, "We will continue to contribute to the local community through the museum's unique role of 'research'."
