A Thank-You Event Also Held for New Customers
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT M Mobile, a domestic budget phone company, announced on the 4th that it has launched the eSIM brand ‘Yangsim’ and released seven specialized plans along with a non-face-to-face one-stop service.
The new brand name ‘Yangsim’ reflects the strength of eSIM as ‘one phone, two SIMs.’ To promote the eSIM brand Yangsim, the company has been conducting outdoor advertisements in areas such as Gangnam and Hongdae since the 15th of last month.
Following the government’s commercialization of eSIM in September, customers in Korea who own devices equipped with eSIM can now use two independent line numbers on a single device. Among domestic devices, the service is available on Apple’s iPhone XS released in 2018 through the iPhone 14 series, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4.
The eSIM one-stop service launched by KT M Mobile allows users to complete the entire process online?from device registration to plan subscription, activation, and eSIM enablement?all at once. The company applied Optical Character Recognition (OCR) digital technology to prevent errors in entering the device’s unique number and introduced various authentication methods and self-activation services.
The specialized plans include seven types: ▲ eCall 60 minutes/500MB (3,300 KRW per month) ▲ eCall 120 minutes (2,200 KRW per month) ▲ eCall 240 minutes (4,400 KRW per month) ▲ eData Safe 3.5GB+/100 cases (9,900 KRW per month) ▲ eData Safe 5GB+/100 cases (11,000 KRW per month) ▲ e 5G Call 150 minutes (3,300 KRW per month) ▲ e 5G Call 300 minutes (6,600 KRW per month). All existing KT M Mobile USIM plans are also available.
eSIM plans allow users to maintain their current carrier and plan while adding KT M Mobile’s ultra-low-cost voice plan (2,200 KRW per month) via eSIM, or combine budget phone USIM and budget phone eSIM plans.
Meanwhile, KT M Mobile is also running a gift event for eSIM subscribers. Among subscribers, 515 people will be selected by lottery to receive prizes such as iPhones, Galaxy Z Flip4, Apple Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 5, and Emart gift certificates. Existing KT M Mobile users who newly subscribe to eSIM will have 500 people selected by lottery to receive an additional 20,000 KRW Emart gift certificate.
Chae Jeong-ho, CEO of KT M Mobile, said, “To maximize customers’ experience of one phone with two SIMs, we have provided an eSIM one-stop self-activation service and launched plans specialized for eSIM.” He added, “We will continue to offer various services and plans prioritizing customer experience along with the Yangsim brand.”
