Korea Philip Morris "We Will Do Our Best to Provide Accurate Information on Non-Combustible Tobacco Based on Scientific Evidence"

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Philip Morris Korea announced on the 4th that it will designate this month as 'PMK (Philip Morris Korea) Science Month' to provide accurate information about non-combustible tobacco products. In addition, it released a video containing three promises to accelerate the realization of the 'Smoke Free Future' vision.

Baek Young-jae, CEO of Philip Morris Korea, revealed the 'three promises' in a video message on the same day, pledging to do his best to provide accurate information based on science, launch innovative non-combustible products, and engage in honest and open dialogue with experts and civil society.

CEO Baek said, "The debate over the difference in harmful substance emissions between non-combustible electronic cigarette devices and conventional cigarettes must now end," adding, "We will do our best to provide accurate information about non-combustible products based on scientific evidence for adult smokers who are confused between conventional cigarettes and non-combustible products."

He continued, "The industry agrees that non-combustible products are the future standard and will replace conventional cigarettes, and we plan to continuously introduce more innovative non-combustible products in Korea."

He also emphasized, "For a 'Smoke Free Future,' not only the efforts of tobacco companies like in the UK and the US but also the understanding and support of civil society and experts, as well as reasonable regulations based on science, are necessary," adding, "We will also do our best to maintain open dialogue with experts and regulatory authorities."

Philip Morris International is promoting the development and commercialization of non-combustible products with the vision of a 'Smoke Free Future.' By 2025, it plans to expand the markets where non-combustible products are sold to 100 countries and increase the net sales proportion of non-combustible products to 50%.
