Abusing the authority granted by the people for personal gain" On the 4th, members of the National Assembly, including Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a picket protest in the Rotunda Hall of the National Assembly condemning the "diplomatic fiasco and political oppression of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration." [Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 4th that the Board of Audit and Inspection's written investigation notice regarding former President Moon Jae-in is "an attempt to carry out retaliatory audits against a former president under the pretext of a baseless North Korea scare campaign that has already been proven futile."

At a party meeting that day, Lee stated, "Political oppression directly targeting former President Moon Jae-in is becoming blatant."

He added, "Like the dictatorship that trampled competitors with guns and swords to protect the people, the current administration is resorting to a reign of terror using investigative power that is supposed to uphold justice," and warned, "I strongly caution the Yoon Seok-yeol government. I hope they seriously reflect on the past history of how previous administrations ended after abusing the authority granted by the people for personal gain."

Lee further explained, "Power is finite, even if it seems eternal," and urged, "Do not forget that the blade you wield now will eventually turn back on yourself."

Targeting President Yoon Seok-yeol, he said, "The nation's highest official not only hides behind aides, claiming he cannot even remember his own statements made a few days ago, but also brazenly suppresses the media. I hope he takes a moment to reflect on himself."

This is interpreted as criticism of the 'vulgar language controversy' that arose during President Yoon's overseas trip and the ruling party's allegations of 'collusion with the media.'

Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party, also criticized in his party meeting remarks, "The Board of Audit and Inspection, which has abandoned political neutrality by supporting the president's governance, has gone far beyond the limits with its reckless actions," and said, "The Board, which has admitted to being a loyal hunting dog of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, has directed its blade at former President Moon Jae-in."

Park emphasized, "This is clear political oppression that would be impossible without a backer who condones and encourages it," and added, "They targeted former President Moon in an attempt to somehow turn the tide of the disastrous situation caused by the president and the diplomatic line."
