Jo Eung-cheon "Yoon, Supporters Embarrassed... Suspected of Targeting Moon to Rally Support Base"

Jo Eung-cheon "Yoon, Supporters Embarrassed... Suspected of Targeting Moon to Rally Support Base" On the 26th, Cho Eung-cheon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, attended the "Democratic Party Reflection and Innovation Continuous Forum" held at the National Assembly and presented on the topic "Reflection and Lessons from 5 and a Half Years of Democratic Party Governance." [Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 4th, Cho Eung-cheon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, commented on the Board of Audit and Inspection notifying former President Moon Jae-in of a written investigation, saying, "As President Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating plummets, it is quite plausible to suspect that they devised this absurd method to divert public attention and rally the remaining supporters."

On the same day, on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs,' Rep. Cho said, "According to persistent rumors circulating, the ultimate target is not Representative Lee Jae-myung but former President Moon Jae-in. Recently, with a lot of media play, the intention cannot help but be suspected from various perspectives."

Regarding why former President Moon was 'extremely angry' about the Board of Audit and Inspection's notification, Rep. Cho mentioned that after summoning former National Intelligence Service Directors Suh Hoon and Park Jie-won, no investigation has taken place. He said, "Not investigating former NIS directors at all and immediately questioning the president at the top means they want to ask everything from start to finish. It feels insulting to a former president, and it might be a procedural misstep where they are asking a lot of questions that should be handled at the staff level. I cannot understand what they expect to gain by conducting a written investigation without any intermediate process."

Rep. Cho listed remarks related to President Yoon, such as his comment at a daycare center in Sejong City, "They start walking by six months," and not performing the 'attention' command at the Armed Forces Day event, saying, "Public trust in the president's leadership is currently very low." Referring to recent Gallup regular opinion polls, he said, "What caught my attention in the survey on President Yoon's governance was that when supporters who said he was doing well were asked what exactly he was doing well, the most common answers were 'I don't know' or refusal to respond," evaluating, "Only the unwavering concrete supporters remain, who support without question."

Rep. Cho said, "There is a saying in Yeouido: what you must really be careful about and protect to the end is not to embarrass your supporters," adding, "Has it come to that point? That's why I keep saying 'only the concrete supporters remain.'"

Regarding a breakthrough in President Yoon's governance, he said, "Even now, if he expresses regret over the diplomatic fiasco, sets clear directions on how to handle the perfect storm that worries the public, shows dedication to our economy and people's livelihood, reorganizes the presidential office according to public opinion, meets with Representative Lee Jun-seok to confront him, what other cards could he possibly have at this point?"
