US Coal Prices Surpass $200...Record High

[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Amid the prolonged Russia-Ukraine invasion that has shaken the energy market, U.S. coal prices have surpassed $200 per short ton for the first time.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration on the 3rd (local time), the spot price of Central Appalachian coal, the benchmark for the U.S. Eastern coal market, surged 3% in the last week of September to reach $204.95. This is an all-time high.

Coal and natural gas prices have surged this year due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the recent increase in electricity demand.
