[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Czech authorities have urged their nationals residing in Russia to leave the country, warning that they may be subject to conscription under the military mobilization order.
On the 3rd (local time), the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a statement on its website, saying, "We once again appeal to Czech citizens currently staying in the Russian Federation or those who have registered their residence with Russian authorities and have been living there for a long time."
The Ministry explained, "Under the partial mobilization order, Czech citizens holding Russian citizenship who are on Russian territory should keep in mind that they may be regarded as local citizens by Russian authorities."
The Ministry noted that due to the impact of the Ukraine war, flights from the Czech Republic and other European Union (EU) member states have been suspended, and recommended moving to non-EU countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Serbia, and T?rkiye.
It also advised those who decide to remain in Russia to be extremely cautious about their length of stay, to verify information through 'reliable' media, and to prepare evacuation plans in case of emergencies.
Earlier, some European countries including the United States, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria had already strongly urged their nationals residing in Russia to leave.
