[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Juri] Composer and entrepreneur Kim Minsu, who was arrested on drug use charges, has been found to have a prior record of similar offenses. It was confirmed that he was punished for smoking marijuana multiple times over 10 years ago.

According to TV Chosun and others on the 1st, Kim was sentenced twice in 2010 for violating the Narcotics Control Act.

It was found that from 2008 to 2009, he engaged in buying, receiving, and smoking marijuana about 20 times.

First, Dons Spike purchased 5g of marijuana from a foreigner in Itaewon from October 2008 to August 2009, and the following year, he bought marijuana several times from a specific individual.

At that time, Kim was prosecuted for purchasing marijuana from a foreigner in Itaewon, Seoul, around March 2009, giving marijuana to an acquaintance, and smoking marijuana at his studio in Seocho-gu and a nearby playground.

In April 2010, the first trial court sentenced Kim to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation and ordered 80 hours of community service. Dons Spike, who appealed, was fined 5 million won on August 26 of the same year.

He was also sentenced to 1 year in prison with a 2-year probation in October of the same year on separate drug-related charges. It was investigated that he purchased marijuana in 2008 and 2009 and smoked marijuana seven times with acquaintances at his studio and other places.

Meanwhile, Kim was arrested around 8 p.m. on the 26th of last month at a hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, while using methamphetamine.

A rapid drug test showed a positive reaction for methamphetamine, and 30g of methamphetamine was found in the hotel room at the time. This amount is estimated to be enough for about 1,000 doses, with a street value of approximately 100 million won.

After the warrant hearing on the 28th of last month, Dons Spike, standing before the press, admitted the charges, saying, "I started using drugs recently. I am truly sorry for causing concern, and it is all my fault. I will sincerely cooperate with the investigation and accept the punishment."
