[Asia Economy International Desk Reporter] Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla's vehicle delivery performance in the third quarter increased by 42% compared to a year ago.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 2nd (local time) that Tesla delivered a total of 343,830 vehicles to customers in the third quarter of this year. Tesla delivered only about 241,000 vehicles during the same period last year.

WSJ pointed out that Tesla's third-quarter delivery performance significantly increased compared to the second quarter of this year and the third quarter of last year, but it somewhat fell short of market expectations. According to FactSet, a financial information company, experts' forecast for Tesla's third-quarter deliveries was 371,000 units.

Tesla explained that the reason for falling short of expectations was due to changes in the transportation process to accommodate the increase in vehicle production. This measure temporarily increased the time required for vehicle delivery.

Tesla is recently increasing production at its factories in the United States, Europe, and China to meet electric vehicle orders. The number of vehicles produced by Tesla in the third quarter was 365,923, more than 50% higher than the approximately 238,000 units produced in the same quarter last year. Tesla stated that although competition in the electric vehicle market has intensified recently, consumer demand for Tesla vehicles has not decreased.
