[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] As the decline in COVID-19 cases continues, the number of new confirmed cases fell below 30,000 for three consecutive days on the 2nd.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters reported that as of midnight on that day, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases was 23,597, a decrease of 3,363 from the previous day (26,960).


Compared to a week ago on the 25th of last month, it is 2,175 fewer, and compared to two weeks ago on the 18th of last month, it is 11,141 fewer. This is the lowest number in 12 weeks since July 10 (20,383) based on Sunday announcements. The cumulative number of confirmed cases is 24,819,611. The average daily number of new confirmed cases over the past week from the 26th to that day is 28,517.


Among the new confirmed cases on that day, 246 were imported cases, 55 fewer than the previous day. The number of confirmed cases by region including imported cases is ▲Gyeonggi 6,841 ▲Seoul 4,797 ▲Gyeongnam 1,364 ▲Incheon 1,343 ▲Gyeongbuk 1,253 ▲Busan 1,020 ▲Daegu 1,017 ▲Chungnam 978 ▲Chungbuk 791 ▲Jeonnam 686 ▲Gangwon 680 ▲Daejeon 606 ▲Gwangju 585 ▲Ulsan 465 ▲Sejong 211 ▲Jeju 171.


The number of critically ill patients is 353, three fewer than the previous day. The number of deaths due to COVID-19 on the previous day was 44, an increase from the day before (39). The occupancy rate of critical care beds as of midnight is 20%, and the number of confirmed cases under home treatment is 180,118.
