Geumcheon Police Station, Yeongdeungpo Child Protection Agency, and Women's Emergency Hotline 1366 Seoul Center Sign Business Agreement to Protect and Support Socially Vulnerable Groups Including Children and Women
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) signed an MOU on September 29 at Geumcheon Police Station (Chief Gwak Chang-yong) to establish the 'Onmaeul Regional Safety Community' aimed at protecting and supporting socially vulnerable groups such as children and women.
At the business agreement ceremony held that day, Geumcheon-gu, Geumcheon Police Station, Yeongdeungpo Child Protection Agency, and the Women's Emergency Call 1366 Seoul Center joined forces.
The 'Onmaeul' in the Onmaeul Regional Safety Community originates from the proverb "It takes a whole village to raise a child," symbolizing all residents coming together with warm hearts (溫) and turning on the switch (ON) that lights up the darkness.
Through this business agreement, each institution agreed to actively cooperate to share information on abused or at-risk children, strengthen a solid collaborative system for child protection support, and build and enhance an organic safety net and support system for victims of crimes against women.
Prior to the agreement ceremony, Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yu Seong-hoon and Geumcheon Police Chief Gwak Chang-yong participated in the #END violence campaign to eradicate child violence. The #END violence campaign is a global initiative jointly conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UNICEF Korea Committee to protect children and adolescents exposed to violence in conflict and disaster situations.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu stated, “Let us cooperate by combining the efforts of the public, private sectors, and police to prevent crimes against socially vulnerable groups and provide protection and support. We will continue administrative support and efforts to make Geumcheon-gu a place where the safety and protection of children and women are the top priorities.”
