[Exclusive] LG to Remodel Yeouido Twin Buildings...Lower Floors to Become Employee Rest Areas

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG is set to remodel the twin buildings 'LG Twin Towers' located in Yeouido. The low-rise common areas will be transformed into rest spaces for employees and customers.

According to the business community on the 2nd, LG will undertake a partial remodeling of the LG Twin Towers, which were completed in 1987. The LG Twin Towers underwent a remodeling focused on affiliate office spaces in 2009 and have been operating in the same environment since then.

The twin buildings, each 34 floors above ground and 143.87 meters tall, are divided into the East and West Towers. The West Tower is used by LG Electronics, while the East Tower is used by LG Group, LG Display, LG Chem, and others.

The spaces to be remodeled this time include low-rise common areas frequently used by employees and customers such as the underground arcade, the first-floor lobby, the above-ground parking lot, and the second floor where bank branches are located. The construction is scheduled to start in January next year and will continue for one year.

LG plans to expand the low-rise spaces into areas for rest and health by reflecting employees' voices as much as possible, increase facilities that reflect food and beverage trends, and transform the spaces to enhance employee welfare and space efficiency.

Currently, stores located within the arcade have begun clearing inventory and closing operations, and Woori Bank and SC First Bank on the second floor have started preparations for integrated operations with nearby bank branches.

To prepare for the remodeling, LG collected opinions on improving common spaces from employees through an internal survey conducted in June. Based on this, they have been planning a partial remodeling that allows open communication and meets employee preferences.

Since this remodeling reflects the voices of the members who can be considered the company's first customers and aims to improve employee welfare and space efficiency, it aligns with the management philosophy of LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, who has emphasized creating a flexible organizational culture and customer-centric management over the past four years since his inauguration.

On the 29th of last month, Chairman Koo held a workshop with about 30 people including affiliate CEOs and business division heads to discuss ways to create a customer-centric work culture.
