[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Samsung Electronics has reportedly lowered its semiconductor sales forecast for the second half of the year by more than 30% compared to previous estimates. There are expectations that the downturn will continue until the first half of next year.

According to the semiconductor industry on the 30th, a senior Samsung Electronics official stated at an employee meeting held on the 28th, "We have lowered the sales guidance (internal company forecast) for the second half of this year by 32% compared to the April forecast."

In April, the market consensus (average securities firms' forecast) for Samsung Electronics' semiconductor sales in the second half was 67.0294 trillion KRW. Applying the 32% reduction mentioned by President Kyung to the market consensus, the semiconductor sales forecast for the second half is reduced to around 45 trillion KRW.

Samsung Electronics' conservative forecast is largely attributed to the recent decline in memory semiconductor prices.
