Gwangju Seo-gu Receives 'Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation' at Dementia Overcoming Day Event

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] On the 30th, the Dementia Safety Center in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City was selected as an excellent institution for dementia program operation at the '15th Dementia Overcoming Day' commemorative event and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

According to Seo-gu on the day, the Dementia Safety Center was the first local government to open the dementia theme park 'Omaebul-mang Healing Park' and formed a group for cooperation with related organizations in the local community, promoting various dementia policy projects such as the introduction of AI care robots for a new care paradigm.

In addition, it opened the 'Dementia Safety University,' which conducts dementia prevention cognitive activities at home, and recruited dementia-specialized volunteers called 'Parangsae Messenger,' planning and operating innovative programs to improve the quality of life for dementia families in the region.

Seo-gu was recognized for its continuous efforts to improve dementia awareness, prevention management, and create a dementia-friendly environment through this ministerial commendation award.

Kim Yi-gang, the head of Seo-gu Office, said, "I think this award recognizes the excellence of the dementia program in Seo-gu, Gwangju," and added, "We will continue to take the lead in making Seo-gu a place where residents can stand tall without worries about dementia."
