[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Trade Network (KTNET) received the Public Procurement Service Commissioner Award on the 30th in recognition of its contribution to the stable operation and maintenance of the Nara Market in celebration of the '2nd Procurement Day.'
The event was held from 2 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom of the 63 Convention Center in Yeouido, Seoul.
The Procurement Day event is organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Public Procurement Service to encourage the spread of innovative procurement and to raise social awareness of transparency and efficiency in public procurement. This is the second event following last year. Awards are given to companies or individuals who have contributed to the development and transparency enhancement of public procurement.
KTNET began participating in the pilot and expansion projects for the electronic procurement system construction in 1997 and has successfully carried out the operation consignment project of the National Comprehensive Electronic Procurement System (Nara Market) since 2015. Based on its experience and know-how accumulated in public electronic procurement, KTNET has established a systematic management model for the operation service of Nara Market and contributed to improving service satisfaction for Nara Market users.
Leveraging its experience in establishing next-generation Nara Market construction strategies and operational know-how domestically, KTNET has established the development direction of procurement administration systems and built the operational service infrastructure for electronic procurement systems in overseas export target countries. Starting with the export of the Korean-style electronic procurement system to Rwanda in Africa in 2016, KTNET exported it to Jordan in 2017 and built the public procurement system in Iraq last year.
The Korean-style electronic procurement system has been recognized by the UN as a 'Best Practice Model for e-Procurement' for its effectiveness in improving fairness and transparency and reducing costs through real-time information disclosure and reduced face-to-face contact.
