Sangbo Lee, No Drugs Detected 'No Charges'... Police Drug Rapid Test Error

No Charges Expected During This Week

Sangbo Lee, No Drugs Detected 'No Charges'... Police Drug Rapid Test Error

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Actor Lee Sangbo, who was urgently arrested on suspicion of drug use and then released, will be cleared of charges.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced on the 30th that they plan to decide on non-prosecution (no charges) next week regarding Lee, who was suspected of violating the Narcotics Control Act. According to the police, the National Forensic Service's detailed analysis found no traces of narcotics (morphine) in Lee's urine and hair samples, and the detected psychotropic drug components were confirmed to have been legally prescribed by a hospital.

Lee was arrested by the police on the afternoon of the 10th, Chuseok day, at around 2 p.m. at his residence in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Lee explained that although a simple reagent test showed a positive reaction for narcotics, he was taking medication for depression and tranquilizers.

Currently, Lee is raising issues regarding the police arrest and subsequent response. However, the police maintain that the arrest was conducted through proper procedures based on a routine 112 drug-related report and a positive simple reagent test.

However, the police plan to continue investigating whether there is a discrepancy between the results of the simple reagent test kit and the National Forensic Service's test results. In Lee's case, morphine was detected in the police simple reagent test at the time, but the National Forensic Service later found no such substance.
