President of the Korean Art History Association, Former Member of the Cultural Heritage Administration's Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee
The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 30th that it has appointed Kim Jeong-hee, Professor Emeritus at Wonkwang University, as the chairman of the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation. The term of office is three years, until September 2025.
Chairman Kim graduated from the Department of History at Ewha Womans University and completed his master's and doctoral degrees in Korean Art History at the Graduate School of Korean Studies, Academy of Korean Studies. Since 1993, he has served as a professor in the Department of History and Culture (Archaeology and Art History) at Wonkwang University. He has also held positions such as president of the Korean Art History Society, cultural heritage committee member for the movable cultural properties division of the Cultural Heritage Administration, intangible cultural heritage committee member of the Cultural Heritage Administration, cultural heritage committee member of Seoul Metropolitan Government, director of the Wonkwang University Museum, and dean of the College of Humanities at Wonkwang University.
The Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation is a special corporation under the Cultural Heritage Administration, established in July 2012 to conduct various projects related to the investigation, research, repatriation, and utilization of Korean cultural heritage located overseas.
