[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The three major telecom companies announced on the 30th that they will start pre-orders for the iPhone 14 series both online and offline, along with a purchase verification prize event. The official release date is October 7.
The iPhone 14 series consists of four models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and Plus come in sizes of 15.4 cm and 17.0 cm, respectively, and are available in five colors: Midnight, Blue, Starlight, Purple, and Product (Red). The premium models, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, are equipped with the A16 Bionic chip and feature the first-ever 48MP main camera on an iPhone, along with ultra-wide, telephoto, and TrueDepth cameras. They come in sizes of 15.5 cm and 17.0 cm and four colors: Deep Purple, Gold, Silver, and Space Black. The new Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra also begin pre-orders on this day.
SKT Collaborates with W Concept... Mini Concert Invitation
SK Telecom’s 1334 brand ‘0’ is conducting a collaboration promotion with the fashion platform W Concept. From today until October 20, the ‘SK Telecom X W Concept 0 CONCEPT Event’ will select a total of 4,200 SKT iPhone 14 buyers through a draw to receive fashion items and coupons. Additionally, a special 14% discount coupon for W Concept will be given to the first 20,000 participants.
SKT will also hold a mini concert titled ‘0, Begin Again’ on November 12 in collaboration with music channel Dingo Music. Artists Crush and Heize will attend, and among SKT iPhone 14 activation customers who apply for the concert participation event from October 7 to October 21, 50 pairs (including one guest each) will be invited by lottery.
At SKT’s official online store T Direct Shop, the ‘Morning Pick’ and ‘Morning Quick’ programs will be operated for the first 5,000 pre-order customers. Customers can pick up their reserved devices immediately at about 120 stores nationwide as soon as the stores open at 8 a.m., or receive quick delivery within the morning. Free accessory coupons for AirPods Pro and genuine cases will also be provided.
SKT will also run the ‘T All Care Plus III’ promotion from October 7 to November 4. Among insurance subscribers, 4,050 customers will receive prizes such as Apple Watches. The ‘T iPhone Care’ product currently offers unlimited coverage for up to six damage claims over three years.
Purchases made using affiliated cards from Hana, Woori, Shinhan, KB, and Lotte offer discounts and cashback benefits up to 630,000 KRW, with Hana and Woori affiliated cards providing interest-free installment benefits. Additionally, for purchases made in October and November, the T Safe Compensation program for used phone trade-ins offers up to 570,000 KRW in compensation, based on the iPhone 11 Pro. When combining affiliated card and T Safe Compensation benefits to the fullest, total discounts can reach up to 1.2 million KRW. Existing Hana card customers can receive 24-month interest-free installments when purchasing through T Direct Shop without issuing a new card, and Samsung card users can get 12-month interest-free installments.
KT Offers Up to 6 Months Free Use of 'Apple TV Plus'
KT offers iPhone buyers a 3-month free subscription to ‘Apple TV Plus (+)’. When purchasing through KT, customers can enjoy a total of 6 months free?3 months free from KT and an additional 3 months free for KT iPhone customers. The benefit is available from the iPhone 14 release date, October 7, through June next year.
Costs can be further reduced when using bundled discounts. By applying a premium bundle discount (25%) and a selective contract discount (25%), and subscribing to TVING/Genie+ Choice Basic (90,000 KRW per month), customers can enjoy ▲6 months free Apple TV+ ▲content benefits ▲completely unlimited 5G data ▲VIP membership ▲free data sharing?all for about 40,000 KRW per month, KT explained. The Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra can be purchased at 50% off when selecting the Device Choice plan.
LG U+, AirPods Max and More Given by Lottery for Purchase Verification on ‘Live Broadcast’
LG Uplus will hold the ‘Uplus LIVE’ broadcast six times until October 6. Customers who verify their iPhone 14 pre-order purchases during each broadcast will be entered into a lottery to win prizes such as AirPods Max, Apple Watch Series 8 41mm GPS, MacBook Air M1 chip model, and Incase MacBook pouches. During the pre-order period starting on the 30th, 2,200 customers who apply on the event page and complete activation will be selected by lottery to receive Apple-exclusive accessory goods.
Limited edition goods and affiliated cards are also prepared. The ‘Wiggle Wiggle X LG U+ Pre-order Limited Edition Goods’, created in collaboration with Wiggle Wiggle, include a ready bag featuring the company’s character ‘Moona’, iPhone 14 cases, iPad pouches, AirPods 3rd generation cases, and keyrings. For the entire month of October, customers purchasing with the iPhone 14 exclusive affiliated card ‘LG U+ Appleism Shinhan Card’ can receive 50,000 KRW cashback and up to 20,000 KRW monthly telecom fee discounts when registering for 24-month installment purchases and automatic telecom fee payments. Additionally, customers who purchase with the affiliated card and subscribe to the used phone price guarantee program will receive 120,000 KRW cashback.
New package products such as category packs that offer discounts on Apple Watch and AirPods devices have also been introduced. Customers subscribing to the online-only plan ‘5G Direct 65’ at 65,000 KRW per month can choose between the ‘Apple Watch SE 2nd Generation Pack’ and the ‘AirPods Pro 2nd Generation Pack’, both offering full discounts on device installment payments. Customers subscribing to the ‘5G Premier Plus’ plan at 105,000 KRW per month can receive full discounts on AirPods 3rd generation installment payments. Meanwhile, Apple authorized reseller Willis plans to hold an ‘iPhone Early Bird Event’ by opening Willis stores early at 8 a.m. on October 7 at Lotte Department Store Dongtan and Centum City locations. This is the first on-site new product event in three years since COVID-19. The iPhone Early Bird Event will be held for the first 50 customers on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first buyer receiving an Apple Watch Series 8. Lucky box prize draws and tiered gift events will also be held.
