[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] GS The Fresh announced on the 30th that it has introduced eco-friendly paper packaging for the first time in the industry.
The newly introduced eco-friendly paper packaging is FSC-certified packaging. FSC certification is an international certification system established by the Forest Stewardship Council to protect forest resources, granted to paper and products produced in a sustainable manner.
GS The Fresh decided to prioritize the introduction of eco-friendly paper packaging in the best-selling product category of livestock products. The representative products are three types made using Australian clean beef: Anchangsal, Tosisal, and Chimasal.
Starting with livestock products, GS The Fresh plans to rapidly expand the use of paper packaging across all product categories, aiming to reduce plastic packaging by up to 120 tons annually.
A GS Retail official said, “As part of practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, we have launched livestock products using this eco-friendly paper packaging. We will continue to incorporate values that consider the environment into product planning, along with quality and price.”
