6.1 Local Election Elected Officials' Asset Declaration Details [Gangwon-do Public Officials Ethics Committee]

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon Province Public Officials Ethics Committee disclosed the asset declaration details of 109 individuals subject to occasional asset declaration disclosure on the 30th.

The individuals subject to asset declaration disclosure are the newly elected members of the 18 city and county councils within the province from the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections held on June 1.

The average amount of declared assets per disclosure subject (including spouses and direct ascendants/descendants) among the 109 individuals is 752 million KRW.

This is an increase of 71 million KRW on average compared to the assets declared by the regular asset declaration subjects disclosed last March.

Among the 109 disclosure subjects, 83 (76%) reported owning assets under 1 billion KRW, and among them, 40 (36.7%) declared assets under 300 million KRW.

Six council members declared assets of 2 billion KRW or more, with the highest declared assets reported by Sokcho City Council member Lee Myeong-ae at 7.6 billion KRW.

Following are Yangyang County Council member Choi Seon-nam with 4.68242 billion KRW, and Yanggu County Council member Kim Jeong-mi with 3.484405 billion KRW.

A total of 26 council members declared assets exceeding 1 billion KRW, with Chuncheon having the highest number at five.

Hongcheon, Taebaek, Jeongseon, Yeongwol, Hoengseong, and Yanggu each have two members, while Gangneung, Wonju, Sokcho, Donghae, Yangyang, Goseong, and Inje each have one member.

Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Province, declared assets worth 4.139119 billion KRW, while Jeong Gwang-yeol, Deputy Governor for Economy, declared more at 5.190753 billion KRW.

Shin Gyeong-ho, Superintendent of Gangwon Province Education Office, declared a total of 822.417 million KRW.
