[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] As of 9 PM on the 29th, more than 27,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.


According to Seoul City and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 27,632 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 2,458 fewer than the previous day's count at the same time (30,090).


Compared to a week ago on the 22nd (28,267 cases), the number decreased by 635, and compared to two weeks ago on the 15th (50,151 cases), it dropped by about 22,000. This is the lowest number in 12 weeks for a Thursday at the same time since July 7 (18,625 cases).


As of 9 PM on this day, 14,297 cases (51.7%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 13,335 cases (48.2%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas.


By region, the cases were: Gyeonggi 8,017, Seoul 5,794, Incheon 1,735, Gyeongnam 1,525, Gyeongbuk 1,452, Daegu 1,413, Chungnam 1,110, Gangwon 923, Chungbuk 947, Jeonbuk 893, Jeonnam 813, Daejeon 732, Gwangju 640, Busan 730, Ulsan 486, Sejong 218, and Jeju 204.


From the 23rd to this day, the daily new cases for one week were 29,097 → 29,339 → 25,775 → 14,158 → 39,413 → 36,159 → 30,881, with a daily average of 29,260 cases.
