[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 29th, the Police Future Vision Committee announced the 'Police Future Vision 2050,' a future policing strategy, at the National Police Agency.

Future Vision 2050 is a comprehensive future policing policy plan that presents mid- to long-term policy goals and directions necessary to protect public safety. It was prepared by the committee launched in December last year. The committee adopted the slogan "Scientific Policing Responsible for Public Safety, Korean Police Leading Global Standards" and selected 14 challenge tasks, 29 implementation tasks, and 72 execution tasks.

Among the two subcommittees of the committee, the New Normal Policing sector features an advanced integrated 112 system that draws attention. Similar to the drama Voice, it aims to analyze the caller's voice, location, surrounding sounds, and past reports to predict risk levels, and to integrate and analyze policing information and control center footage to transmit real-time information to police officers dispatched to the scene. This appears to be influenced by the participation of writer Jinwon Ma, who scripted the drama Voice, in the Future Vision Committee.

Tasks also include establishing an AI integrated control center that automatically analyzes risk signs based on information collected by patrol cars, drones, and robots; introducing intelligent robots, drones, and wearable devices; and creating a crime analysis platform where AI comprehensively analyzes crime and accident data along with case handling history to provide investigative techniques and clues. The construction of a 'Meta Police Agency' on a metaverse platform for real-time reporting and consultation, and the development of an AI meta-police equipped with patrol functions in virtual space, are also noteworthy. In the organizational innovation subcommittee, proposals include establishing a department in the National Police Agency responsible for scientific policing policy and installing the Institute of Policing Science, the Center for Scientific Policing Promotion, and the Institute for Scientific Policing Advancement.

Chairman Kwanghyung Lee stated, "If we do not proactively and scientifically prepare for the rapidly changing policing environment, the burden on the police will increase, which could pose a serious threat to national development and public safety," adding, "Bold investment and support comparable to national advanced strategic industries are necessary." National Police Agency Commissioner General Hee-geun Yoon also promised, "The strategies and tasks established by the committee will be faithfully implemented according to the execution plan and used as a benchmark for mid- to long-term future policing strategies."
